2nd Annual Cobb Overture Gala

The magnificent $145-million Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre pulled back the curtain on its first performance in September 2007.The state-of-the-art facility in two short years has attracted the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Broadway Series and The Atlanta Opera. With its 2,750-seat John A. William’s Theatre, 10,000-square-foot-Kessel D. Stelling, Jr. Ballroom and 1,00parking spaces, the Centre is a premier venue for opera, concerts, Broadway shows, ballet, educational shows, family shows and corporate meetings and events.

To mark its second birthday, Cobb Energy Centre will again host the Overture Gala, on Saturday, September 12. The elaborate evening will include a festive cocktail reception, gourmet dinner in the Centre’s Ballroom , with a menu created by the Centre’s Executive Chef M.G. Farris, and an electrifying concert performance by ABBA, the Music, featuring original members of the Swedish band.

The concert will be followed by disco dancing in the ballroom. The Overture Gala is headed by Honorary Chairmen Lisa and Sam Olens, the Cobb County Commission Chairwhose leadership was instrumental in the Centre’s establishment. Event Co-chairs are Mary and Charlie Yates and Sally and Jim Rhoden. Patron Committee Co-Chairs are Sylvia Dick, member of the Centre’s Board of Directors, Cheryl Nix and Sandra Prince. The next day, Sunday, September 13, the Centre will host a public arts festival as a preview to
the upcoming arts season in metro Atlanta. Dozens of art organizations will represent dance, music, theatre, comedy and cultural programming. The festival is free; parking is $5 per car for onsite parking.
